Awaken The Olympian Within

Yes, the British population and most of us Londoners have been on a high for the last week or so with the massive medal haul at the Olympic games.

In every country, the headlines are celebrating the new heroes, role models and sudden stars. The broadcasters and publishers are scrambling to dig up childhood photos, videos and heart-warming stories of the struggles and commitment that rocketed the kid-next-door to become the nation’s new idol.

Beyond all the media hype and the competitive arena, what lessons can we take from the incredible exhibition of human potential?

Unfortunately, most people will conclude – without much consideration whatsoever – is that this athletic talent is a genetic gift and those accomplishments are only for special people. Nothin’ to do with me.

But more and more research and studies are consistently showing that it is learned talent, not gifted talent that fuels most high achievers. Like Daniel Coyle writes in [amazon ASIN=”0099519852″]The Talent Code[/amazon] and Matthew Syed writes in [amazon ASIN=”0007350546″]Bounce[/amazon], the qualities of commitment, discipline, passion, conviction, confidence and belief are the REAL deal makers.

Are you sabotaging your dreams?

Self-sabotage may be at play, and if it is, the chances are you might not even realise it… but you might notice the effects it has on your attempts to achieve your goals and dreams.

Make A Wish List
